RE: Tailgate Stolen Off Pickup Truck

Gotten so bad around here that they to have to hire security when building subdivisions. Guy building a house doesn't have a chance. Wiring, A/C unit', stoves, microwaves.
It has helped that they passed a state law for selling this stuff. Went to sell some aluminum cans and old aluminum wheel. Had to show them my drivers license. They wrote the number down, name, address and I had to sign the paperwork.

RE: Doom and Gloom!

Doctor Phil Gramm, PhD, out of Texas A & M contributed big time.
Just to clarify. Gramm was educated at University of Georgia and is a professor at A & M. You are right about him though.:) Rotten to the core and helped create this mess. But, who is or has been in Congress is clean? That would be a short list if one existed.

RE: 2004 Silverado 2500HD Mirrors

Check with your dealer. Maybe you can work something out with him. I was looking at a new D/A while getting my oil changed and saw that they were a $250. option. Had mine added free after making the deal on my truck. Wait until all the figures are agreeded upon and use that as a way to get something extra.

RE: San Antonio

A friend of mine in S.A. stayed at Braunig Lake RV Park. South on I-37 a few miles south of I-410. Happt Trails Rene'
Passport America park. Unlimited stays means you can stay as long as you want at 1/2 price. Breakfast on weekends for a couple of bucks. Nice Laundry. Try to book on the outer cicle. Has a few more trees and more room. 8 miles from the Alamo and the Missions are at that end of town.

RE: Black tank leak

My experience has been that welding is best for PE.
However, 3M DP-8005 is advertised to work on PE. I trust 3M enough to carry some with me for emergencies, but have never used it.
Their DP100 is handy stuff. We used tons of it at work. But I have seen DP100 repair attempts on PE fail. Same for their DP100 plus. The data sheets for both products make no claim of its utility with PE as a substrate.
I would still remove and weld, but would try the 3M 8005 if removing and welding was inconvenient.
Where do you find it?

RE: If bail out passes and works

You're right, I don't think you understand the market, Warren Buffett, or Berkshire stock. I guess I was just lucky 25 years ago, and luckier today buying. LMAO! :)
Joe, You really need to work on that reading comprehension.LMAO!!!:S

RE: If bail out passes and works

Berkshire is too expensive for the average investor and near a 52 week low. It has also missed it's earnings estimate 2 of the last 3 quarters and is expected to miss the next quarter. The Oracle has been putting a lot of money in the market. Has he lost his touch or is the market so bad that no one can make any money? Only time will tell. Putting money in the market at this time, IMO, is not a good decision. He has said we are in a recession.
Gains can be spectacular but so can losses. No dividends or splits. Berkshire is not interested in selling to the common man. Right......wait until it's at a 52 week high and buy. :S
Congratulation on not buying a stock that has averaged and compounded at a 20%+ percentage rate for 42 years. Yeah, he's lost his touch with you.:S.
Joe, Several days go someone questioned your reading comprehension. I now also question it.:)
I did NOT say he lost his touch. I questioned it. He has recently bought into some great companies that have taken a beating. He started buying several weeks and the market has tanked well over a 1000 points since then. You have a post today that says we are not near the bottom.
I still stand by my statement that the AVERAGE investor can not afford the stock. Even 1 or 2 shares would turn the stomach of most people with the wild ups and downs that it has experienced. I can't afford his stock and doubt many on this forum can. The time for individuals to have bought into his company was at least 20 years ago and even then you had to be rich.
After finding out who he supports in the election, I believe that even as rich as he is, he has succumbed to the greed that many on this forum is complaining about.
There are many good companies that if someone had invested into could have made the same returns with splits, dividends and reinvestments at a much lower cost.
Berkshire has been, and I still believe, is a great company. It is going through the same tough time as all stocks.

RE: If bail out passes and works

Here in California, and this is a very sensitive issue, people are tired of the illegal immigration. Its draining our economy. The illegals get so many free benefits and don't contribute to the taxes or to pay for it.

and the safest place to have your money is in Berkshire-Hathaway, Inc. stock. It's safer than ANY bank.
Looks like even this is going down.......Good time to buy?

RE: Campground Ideas Between Galveston & Port Aransas

Friends wintered at Woody Acres in Rockport. We spent 2 weeks wth them in March. Close to Goose Island and the Gulf. To windy for me. Can't put the awning out and everything blows around. Woody Acres was not good about keeping the grounds mowed and offered no discounts. Had problems with wi-fi. I would rather stay a lttle farther inland. Rust, as mentioned, can be a problem. His chrome rims on his truck and rig began to rust.

RE: Black tank leak

JB weld is not welding, its an epoxy, you have to use a compatible material and heat HDPE = HDPE
You are correct that it is epoxyg but it worked on my tank and our rigs are made by the same manufacturer. Not all tanks are HDPE. I BELIEVE my tank is ABS as all fittings are glued into the tank.

RE: Doom and Gloom!

We are at the bottom or very close to it as of today. Many won't believe that but I don't believe we will go much lower than we are right now. We've been mostly in cash for almost a year and a half now, its time to start cherry picking some buys.
Exactly!
The problem with holding cash is that cash don't rally.
With cash, the only way to double your money is to fold it and put it back in your pocket
With cash, you lose to inflation. Those still in the market have seen 20-40% loses in just a few weeks. Too late to get out at this time? Probably. I got out when 3 years of returns went to zero. Saw a report last night that said it took 29 years for the market to return to pre-depression levels.

RE: Black tank leak

Plastic tanks are difficult to repair but I have had success with JB Weld in a crack next to the outlet fitting. I put a small piece of Gorilla tape over the crack to keep any moisture from dripping. Sanded with rough sand paper and applied a thin layer JB Weld and used a hair dryer to cure it quickly. Applied 2 more coats and let dry normally between each. That was in Indiana last year in 40 deg. weather. Ten thousand miles and many full black tanks later I have not had a problem. Don't know what my black water tank is made out of but JB Weld would not work on a Polypropylene fuel tank. I also have an HR like you so perhaps JB Weld may work for you.

RE: Condition of I-10 in TX ad LA ??

Louisiana is back to normal. Closed just east of the Texas line for 1 day because of water. The La. tourist bureau is still closed because of flooding. Texas bureau headed into Texas west bound is open and was flooded just as bad. Louisiana just doesn't put a priorty on things.
Construction STILL for 10 miles east of Lake Charles. East bound is new and both lanes are open as of last week. One lane was closed for a few weeks. Good roads through to Baton Rouge and then take I-12 to continue east. Stay out of Baton Rouge east bound between 4:00-6:00 P.M. weekdays.
Construction between Vidor and Orange but traffic moves unless there is a wreck. I supect the interstate in Houston is normal and traffic times to avoid are the same. I am not aware of damage to any of the highways. Fuel MAY be a little tight in the Houston area if all the refineries are not up yet. No fuel problems in La. or the Beaumont/Orange area.

RE: Doom and Gloom!

IIRC, A few weeks ago one of the Mods. predicted the DOW at 8,000.:h Can't remember where, might have been one of the posts on this topic.
It is closer to the 8,000 now than what it was when he posted.
I am the one who predicted the Dow would drop to near 8,000. Even Jim Cramer now predicts it may go to 8300.
O.K. Dick, Enough is enough. How about predicting a reversal so we can see a decline in the pain that America is going though.
You lost credibility with me when you quoted Cramer.:p

RE: Problem with Wingard Antenna

Also look for a small rubber plug while you are up there. Remove and spray silicone in the hole. Helps keep the O-ring from cracking and developing a leak. There should not be any internal gears. Only the gears on top.

RE: wheel bearings

Use #2 wheel bearing grease available almost anywhere. Look for the highest drop point you can find. Some people like to use synthetic such as Mobil 1 but it's drop point is not a high as standard wheel bearing grease.
Best to pull wheels, inspect bearings and hand pack.

RE: Tire Swap

Three different GY dealers and several national tire chains all told me that Marathon's were NOT made in China. When I asked to see the tires, they found that they were wrong. They are either lying or just dumb. Either way, when I found that they denied that they were made in China I walked out. Wouldn't do business with a dealer that doesn't know his product any better than that. I also couldn't get 2 different GY dealers to adjust a GY Marathon blowout.
